DOVO trademarked the Shavette in 1986. It has many advantages over a straight razor:
1. Easy to maintain because it does not need sharpening, or honing. Just clean it with soap and warm water.
2. More affordable than a straight razor.
3. Lighter weight and easier to maneuver, making it good for beginners.
Be aware that disposable blades which come with the Shavette can be uses 3 or 4 times before changing. Barbers, however, can easily use a new blade with each client.
