A well-made razor.
This razor (the BARBAROSSA, 5/8", SHORT, ROUND POINT, TORTOISE) exceeded my high hopes. I didn’t have many ‘expectations’ necessarily, but I had very high hopes that this would be an amazing tool; It did, and it is! I am a barber and typically use disposable-blade shavettes out of convenience. Over the last couple years I started getting into traditional razors. Finding good-condition used razors at antique shops and getting them honed and in working order has been fun! This Dovo is something I’ve had my eye on for over five years and I finally made the jump. I hoped a brand new razor from a good company would be a great baseline for what to expect out of a razor. Let me be clear.. this razor blew my ‘expectations’ out of the water. Everything was packaged very well, first of all. The razor itself was beautiful, and the precision of every aspect of it was tighter and more sturdy than any of my previous antique-store finds. Each time I pick it up I still can’t believe how well-made it is. It is a very proud piece in my arsenal at the shop now. Thanks Dovo. Chris Your Barber ??

shave ready?
Dovo should enclose instructions on making the razor shave ready. I bought one razor before but my reading indicate it need some addional sharpening to be shave ready but they do not specify what sharpening is needed, strop, stone, or what? MATERIAL
This straight razor is made of carbon steel with the material number 1.2210, better known as silver steel. In order to achieve a hardness of approximately 61 HRC, the material is heated to over 1000 degrees celsius and then immediately quenched with a special oil. The subsequent tempering at about 200 degrees celsius gives the blade elasticity and toughness.
HANDLE MATERIAL
Expensive tortoise shell has been used since ancient times to make exquisite art and furniture. This rare material was highly sought after to decorate royal courts around the world. For our product line, we want to do our part to protect these majestic, endangered turtles. We work exclusively with an imitation of silk-matte polished acrylic glass.
GRIND
During hollow grinding, the straight razor is ground concavely from the back to the cutting edge. This design combines great flexibility with high torsional rigidity in longitudinal form. BLADE WIDTH
5/8 inch razors are true all-rounders and can do any wet shaving task with flying colours. The blade is relatively heavy and can therefore glide gently over your skin without great pressure. At the same time, it is still nimble enough to manage even more technically demanding passages around the nose, ears, and chin.
